Problem with Studio and Sugar 4.5.0h

Hi,

I've been having problems with sugar on creating/updating custom fields, labels, comboboxes, etc. The Studio sometimes destroy the layout of advanced/basic searches, it hides labels, cells etc. In some modules Studio leaves me edit the basic search, on another it leave me edit advanced search and on others, both! Some logical here?

It was a very bad idea to Studio edits directly html templates.... Dreamwaver is trying do this for years... and it's not close to "GOOD" yet. The base of Sugar has a dir named "custom", but Studio alters the original template! Some logical here? And what about the tpl dir inside each module? Here a erase it for test purpose in the Note module, and nothing change...

Not saying about the crazy "html" tags that Studio generates: tag "slot", property of tag span "sugar". And many more bad tags... My validator counts more than 1000 html erros in the "Home" of my account.

I'm very disappointed with this software... with mundial repercussion and so poor strutured inside... with many vision code (read html) in the business logic and bad bad organization.

It's not possible that one company that is using this software like my company is TRYING TO USE it, is not getting similar problems like this ones we having.

And we pay for the Professional version...

I have no problems with creating custom fields and layouts.
Except for the occasional email glitch, Sugar works just fine for me.

Hi,

You are right the current studio editor has the potential to break your forms.
If your work a lot with the studio editor then its very likely that sooner or later it will breaks your forms. If you are techincally fit enough to read the templates then you can always fix the templates manually again but this work is very time consuming.

I think Sugar has fixed in 4.5.0h numberous bugs of the studio editor already
but its still not 100% perfect.

I think everybody does agres that the way Sugar edits the templates files in place was a real bad idea. Its both dirty and unreliable and gives big problems when you want to install a module that adds something to a form without breaking or overwriting the old user adjustments.

Sugar is aware of this and Sugar 5.0 will come with a new meta-data driven template engine which will address and hopefully solve this in a much cleaner way.

So lets look forward to it!
