Product item and quote issues.

I was wondering if you can group (or if there is any way in the UI you can group) products so you do not have to select each one individually. Sometimes our quotes are 20-30 lines long and it would be handly if you could select a "product group" and autopopulate with all the products you normally sell in each of your quotes. Selecting one at a time is painful for us.

On a related note - I couldnt see anywhere where you can apply a global discount % on your order ?. I am surprised no one has come up with this - which means maybe I am missing something. So, for example, I need:

line1 service item 1000.00
line2 service item 2000.00
line3 service item 3000.00
total 6000.00
discount 10% 600.00
final total 5400.00

Our discount rules are on a case by case basis - and in most erp systems I have used - you have a special item called discount - this is not apparent here - since it seems to tie (and defaults to) at the product item level - doesnt make sense.

Hope I am wrong - coz I wont be able to roll this product out for us if I am not.

The default for Quotes is to apply discounts only for a group of products, but I follow your needs and suggestions!
A discount for the total Quote often is part of a business logic. You are right!
We had been developing a customization for a Customer adding global discount and also product specific discount, and it working wonderfully.

I would recommend this new feature in the further versions but if you really need it JIT feel free to contact us.

thanks for your help - but really - this is not unique in the business world and should definitely be part of the system. They have global shipping and global tax - but no global discount ?.

Also it seems you cannot even select product groups to avoid having to keep selecting each and every product item - some of our estimates can run into 30 or 40 items.

It has global tax and shipping, not discount!

I am very surprised at this - its standard in a lot of companies to discount towards month-end on total quote value. I am also surprised that you cannot have line item opportunities - thats also fairly standard in a lot of crm systems.

My company also needs the ability to apply a global discount. We also have different discounts for different customer categories. In the old Sugar 4.x Products and Quotes module there was a link to create product catalogues and have different discounts for each catalogue.

I do not see a way to do this in SugarPro 5.2. I see where you can enter a product catalogue but this is essentially the same info as in the product module.

Am I missing something?
