Products Module Useless?

I'm trying to put the "customer" back in "CRM", and aren't having much luck with 4.5 :-( My company has, strangely enough, customers, and those customers purchase products from us. I need to communicate with all customers who purchased product "A", for example, but there doesn't appear to be any linkage between the Products Module and anything else! For example, in reports, you can get a list of products you've sold, but not who bought them! You can get a report on customers, but not what they've bought!

So, is anyone else using the products module, and if so, how to do get at the &(@&# data!

OR, is there some other way of keeping track of what customer has purchased what product that works?

I am also interested in this. What product module have you installed? Where did you find it?

I'm talking about the Products Module in the so-called "Professional" package from SugarCRM. Its the main reason we purchased the product, but unfortunately my evaluation didn't include reproducing the reports from our previous CRM system, and so I didn't find out about the issue until it was time for the end-of-year marketing, and now we're screwed.

Forgive my naivety on this, as I'm brand new to SugarCRM, but is that not a feature of the Open Source implementation? And what were you using before you decided to implement Sugar?
