    Default Reassigning account does not reassign contacts

    I was wondering if there was a particular reason why reassigning an account does not automatically reassign the contacts associated with the account. Unless I am missing something, why would an account belong to one person but the contacts belong to someone else/

    OK, I can see it if you have a large sales organization or if you are dealing with large companies with many contacts but in my case this is very unusual. It would be very useful to have reassignment trickle down. At the very least, it should ask if you want to have the change cascade.

    Just an idea...

    Hi,

    if you are using PRO you can use workflows to achieve this.

    We have done this for several customers.

    Be careful though as all the dates especially for activities are updated, so you lose the chronological activity history. See this thread: http://www.sugarcrm.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41586

    Here is another approach - we built this button in the Mass Update panel. Select the Accounts to be re-assigned, then click the Re-Assign Accounts button - and up comes this panel to select which related data objects should be re-assigned at the same time.

    Ah, help as advertising again :-(

    You could just run a simple SQL statement on the database. If it's a recurring requirement, it's not too difficult to build custom functions onto modules/mass update.

    Thanks for all the ideas. I actually took a low tech approach to this one. I have to reassign some 150 accoutns and 400 contacts among a group of sales people and there is no rhymore or reason... I just gave it to my assistant and told him how to do it manually and to get it done. Once we get this done, we should not have to do it again (I hope).
