Default Reducing mouse clicks in Sugar

    Hi All,

We are undertaking an effort to reduce the number of mouse clicks to perform certain workflows . Please help us identify some of these workflows and also suggest innovative ways to reduce the number of clicks needed to accomplish this.

    Thanks
    Manoj

    Manoj-

This might not be //exactly// what you had in mind, but one change that could tremendously reduce the number of mouse clicks and keystrokes would be to provide an ability to "copy" a detail view to an edit view or vice versa. I can't tell you how much time I spend trying to keep my detail and edit views in sync. Non editable fields would need to be dropped from an edit view, obviously...

Another seemingly easy to implement option would be an auto-number feature for tab order. After editing an edit view, fixing your tab orders can be painfully tedious task. This feature should be implemented with options like "left to right" where tab order automatically renumbers from left to right, or from "top to bottom" where tab order automatically renumbers from the top of the left column down to the bottom and then from the top of the right column down to the bottom. If you want to be real fancy, the "top to bottom" auto renumber feature should also have the option of renumbering template wide, or section by section.

These are not end-user facing, but for those of us on the back end, they would sure save a lot of time.

    Thanks for your consideration,
    Rick

    - Please update the sitemap to include all menu options, not just from the pre-installed modules.
    - Please make the unifiedsearch workable (I already suggested just flagging the field in vardefs.php, like massupdate, and then Sugar just searches for it. (cached query of course, which can be rebuilt).
    - Please get rid of the popups, they slow things down (the browser needs a few seconds to open another window). Consider using an inline ajax page of some sort)

    Role Management:
-allow someone to make a whole column, Owner or any other item
-get rid of the double click to activate. have them all be active dropdown menus so you can quickly change them

    Edit Pages:
Why can't you just allow people who have edit rights to edit it on the detail page? I am sure there is a good technical reason for this, but can get very annoying.

    Contacts/Leads to Target Lists:
Allow people to add Contacts to a Target List from the Contacts page. This would save a world of hurt, as well as let you easily know every Target list a Contact/Lead is associated with.

Allowing a user to associate a new record to a related module on the edit view would be great. Would reduce several steps when creating a record.

I think that you should be able to double click on any field at any time and change it if you have permission to modify that item. With Ajax that would be very possible. Without having to click on edit for an item. That is a constant source of frustration for my users.

For me inline editing in sub-panel lists would be great. Assuming that I got my columns right it would be nice just to doubleclick a particular field and change its content. As an alternative I suggest pop ups similar to the picker windows. They should be editable right away and a "save" should make the window disappear. I know that right the click option works but it opens a new tab/window that must be closed explicitly.

When closing and creating new activities it's not only confusing but most of the time I have to delete the remark text just because it doesn't fit for the follow up. Here a major re-work is required because this is not how people work. At least the start date should be cleared so that it's evident that this is a NEW activity and not the old one. Besides it helps a lot if one could say "close and create new" and a little pop-up would ask "why" or similar (configurable).

One big issue was solved in 5 already - making the "quick create" configurable...

    Great idea. +1 for that.

    Hi,

One big headache that could easily be resolved is the problem of creating users in a PRO/ENT environment.

It would massively reduce the effort if you could assign a user to a team when creating a user.

Today you have to create the user, then assign the user to a team, then go back to the user and assign the team as default team
    Cheers Malcolm

For us, it would be the ability to edit multiple, related records from differing modules at the same time.

Eg. Editing a call record while on the phone - the contact may give/alter details for the account record (phone number, SIC etc) and also give additional details for new contacts related to that account. Currently, the user has to note those details and change/add related records after the call record id saved.
