Default Remote Access for Sugar CRM?

I am evaluating SugarCRM and have installed Version 5.1.0b (Build 4905) of the Community Edition (the combined stack version).

Have read through the Admin and User Guides and have a pretty good idea of how to use it. Now have some real data inside to test the various functions, have also added two new users/employees and can access the CRM direct from another PC on my home/office network and all seems okay. What I really need to to do is to see how it can be accessed (and new data added/editied from outside of my internal network and here I have hit a blank wall, I can't seem to find doc about this need.

How and what do I need on a PC outside of my internal network to access the CRM? I assume tha this has to be via some form of thin client or will a web client Web Client work?

    Any suggestions/pointers most gratefully received.

    Regards

    Mike

As with any other internal application, either make your Sugar instance available to the outside world or set up VPN.

Simply open a hole pointing to your webserver which SugarCRM is installed on.

This can be done yourself if you have experience with your internet router. Otherwise I would recommend consulting a "computer guy".

Yes - sugarcrm is a web-server based system. So if you install it on a publically available server, it's publically available. It's a bit outside the scope of sugar documentation on how to publish it as it all depends on your network and setup.

So, you either need to reinstall it on a company webserver - or as a company webserver. Or alternatively, set up your network to make your existing sugar server available to the outside - though this can open up a lot of security risks if not done properly.
