    Question Reporting/Custom Reports

    Hi,

We are currently implementing Sugar Open Source but as you know it does not have reporting capabilities. We would like to have the ability to use standard reports & create custom reports. Does anyone have any ideas of the best way to do this without buying the pro version?

    Thanks,

    D

    Crmbalah is correct.

ZuckerReports is a simple reporting tool.

Zucker Reports also integrates with iReport from JasperSoft. iReport gives full drag and drop data mining capabilities for SugarCRM.

    Default Reporting/Custom Reports

    Hi,

We have used an external consultant to set up Zuker & when we asked the question about creating custom reports they came back with the following.

Regarding Zuker reports: Zuker report is not a report designing tool, it is a report execution tool based on iReport. So it would not be feasible to integrate hosted SugarCRM with your local iReport software(installed locally in your system). If you still need the functionality to create ad-hoc reports then you can opt for the integration with Pentaho application, where you can achieve these functionality.

Would you agree or could you suggest anything else? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

With respect, your consultants are both right and wrong.

Using iReports, you can design complex reports offline and upload the resulting jrxml file to Zucker Reports which will then run the report..

In order to achieve this you would need a local copy of your sugarcrm database and an installation of iReports on your PC.

Achieving this depends on how tech savvy you are. iReports requires Java and a MySQL connector. There's plenty of knowledge around these forums to help you do this.

For complex reports you will need to understand the SugarCRM database relationships as you need to do table joins in iReport. For simple reports, it's drag and drop.

And there's lots of support both here, in iReports forum on jaspersoft and on the zucker forums on SugarForge to help you if needed.

Thanks for this info, I think that our consultants might be using Pentaho. I just want to make sure whatever we pay them to do will be as simple & cost effective as if we had the reporting function through Sugar ourselves. I've just spent nearly 2 years as an Oracle CRM Administrator & would like to try & get as close to their reporting capabilities as I can.
