    Default Reports For SugarCrm

I have found the forms easy to use for entry but I am puzzled by the lack of reports.

The searches do not allow wildcards and there is not any way to make customized reports for the various modules within the application.

I am puzzled as to how the general user population gets their reporting. Lets say you use the case module. I tend to see that a customer would want a report that lists Cases opened that week, Open Cases, Closed Cases with time open. etc..

Does everyone design custom MySql queries outside of Sugar? Do they use tools like OpenReports? Buy ZuckerReports?

A Reporting module is available in the Professional and Enterprise versions, but not in the OS version

Wild Card searching works in general, can you be more specific

    Regarding wildcards:
The Manual for version 4 states on page 11 that wild card searches are not necessary or supported. Then it mentions that Fred* will only find instances of Fred* as the first 5 letters.

    Regarding Reporting:

I only need one user license since I want to be an expert at the product before offering it to others in some service capacity, plus I actually do need to use a CRM.

Since you have to buy 5 licenses for Pro, it is way too expensive and a waste for me since I only need 1 license. So I will have to remain open source.

I assume I will have to purchase or find an open source reporting tool. I will be trying out Open Reports and others. Anyone interested let me know or even better if you have some method that is working please share with all of us.

basically, you can use every reporting solution which supports plain SQL access ... OpenReports is one of them, another one is AgataReports, and even Excel works with Sugar.

We (JasperSoft) just released a reporting package that works with SugarCRM. Its in an early form and is currently a stand alone server, but we will be adding a Sugar module piece in the near future. You can use any of the JasperReports GUIs to create reports and use the web UI to upload them to the server.

Yes, you have to know the right SQL to get the data in the first place to create a new report. Our goal is to eventually have enough parameterized reports so you don't need to create new ones. To help reach that goal we are releasing the entire package as open source and are encouraging everybody out there to contribute reports.

EDIT: The package is available on SugarForge, as "jasperreports"

What is the place for contributed reports?

I am skilled SQL-programmer, but I don't want to invent the wheel again.

So, what reports are already availlable? What reports may be necessary?

What is the latest on Report enhancements for SugarCRM Open Source?

We have loaded Zucker reports, but do need some report templates built for us for it to be useful.

Are there addon reports available or do we need to hire a consultant to create the report templates?

Any help or direction here would be greatly appreciated.

I just want to add my remark to this discussion...
Choosing a reporting tool really depends on your skill and your needs.

Like Jasper, we have worked for a while on it, and now we would like to announce the publication of Ariacom Business Reports Turn Key Package for sugarCRM .

This package contains more than 100 reports ready to use to perform search and analysis on the different sugarCRM entities:
Accounts, Campaigns, Leads, Opportunities, Bugs, Cases and Activities.

    Check the description at http://www.ariacom.com/brTurnKeyPackages.asp

You can try it easily in 5 minutes by installing http://www.ariacom.com/brfree.exe

Do not hesitate to post your comments and feedbacks...
