    Default Safety

    I'm new to SugarCRM.
Can you please point me where I can get more information about SugarCRM and safety.
Connecting to SugarCRM through intranet and internet. Will I have to provide safety on operating system level or just SugarCRM level?

    Thank you.

Is it security that you are concerned about? The level of security is relative to your situation. Why don't you explain what you would plan to use it for? This way someone may be able to better answer your question.

If I'm right we are going to access to Sugar based on IP address in the Internet Explorer. Is Sugar build in such way that somebody who knows our IP address and where Sugar is installed will not be able to read/write data in Sugar?
What do I have to set so people who does not have access to Sugar will not be able to read/write into Sugar?

Depends on where your Sugar server is on the network. Also with user accounts, even if someone can access the sugar server they shouldn't be able to read or write data. Just make sure you don't have your Sugar directory in a shared folder or anything like that

But yeah we need more information on what you're doing.

What am I doing? Our company is selling services and products.
We want to have database of our customers and all communication with our customers in one place (marketing campaigns, …). This database will be used by several people at the same time. Some from intranet, some from internet. Each will have it’s own username and password. Well, this is the plan.

Because we are considerably financial pour we will start wit Sugar Open Source and it will be installed on WinXP. Yes, I know the OS is not best choice, but this is all we have at the moment.

How should I set Sugar and other stuff so that only people who I want will be able to access Sugar Open Source?

Sorry I should have been more specific, I need to know what you're doing regarding hardware and networking.

You could actually put your Sugar directory in a shared folder as long as only the localhost has write access, but of course you still need a webserver.

In order to limit access, just use Sugar's user accounts, and make sure a password is set for your database as well. All users will have to log in to use Sugar or change any data in the Sugar database.
