    Default Sales Managers and territories

    In the community edition, is it possible to let the sales area manager see only the accounts of his own territory (Country based division) ?

    Yes, you can assign a role to your reps which define that they can see only their accounts. These must be assigned to this person. Based on other criteria this is not possible.
    You may also want to look at the various CE Teams add ons on Sugarforge.

    But like this I had to assign all my 6000 contects in the database. I need something that said: all the contact sfrom Algeria to "sales manager X"; all the contects from Oman to the "sales manager y"; ....

    Open your contacts list view and if you haven't done so add your territory field to the extended search panel.
    Now select e.g. Oman in the search panel and press search (you probbaly should clear your search first).
    Then go to the top left corner of the resulting list and select "all records". After that move down to the mass update panel, choose your sales rep and press update.
    There are more elegant methods but this one can be done without any modifications or add ons.
