    Default Schedulers

Various posts hereabouts refer to schedulers and to make sure that cerftain ones are running/created so that specific events (such as reports) are processed and despatched via email.

We are running SugarCRM Open Source V4.0 and so far we have not used it for any serious email work. I have the recommened entry in crontab, but my sechedulers list is empty - does this mean that certain things won't work? I have had a look around for more information on schedulers without much success so I'd appreciate some advice.

    Thanks

    Hi nkendrick,

If you don't use Schedulers, nothing in 4.0 will break, but you can't leverage Inbound Email, automatically run some performance scripts, or track certain parts of a Email Campaign.

If your organization is not heavily using Sugar's email component then there isn't too much to worry about.

Chris, thanks for the quick reply - the issue is that we will start to use these features in Q1 2006 and I am unsure what part the schedulers will play in making them work. Is there any documentation I should be reading?

    Hi nkendrick,

I gather that your instance has been upgraded to 4.0? This is a known issue with upgrades where the OOTB Schedulers jobs are not created for you.

Take a few moments and read through the FAQs I've written in the Help forums. This will help orient you to some of the issues that current users are facing (and hopefully, will be fully addressed in the 4.0.1 patch).

The one point to pay particular attention to is the upgrade section, as it addresses the missing Schedulers issue.

Hope this gets you under way!
