Security, SugarCRM and ssl?

We plan to use sugarcrm on an external internet provider. Now we would like to have height security level for our data. How can a make may data secure as possible(hacking)? Is ssl a good idea? Does sugarcrm run with ssl?

Works fine with SSL, we use it here.

Additional security can also be obtained by putting the DB sever separate to the web server on different firewall segments as well. With the web server on a DMZ and the DB server only accessible from the DMZ or an internal segment, but not the internet at large.

guys i want to run mysql DB on SSL and then sugarcrm to connect mysql on SSL any idea how?
