Sending a Mkting Campaign in Open Source

I attended the "Conducting Email Marketing Campaign" training session with Sugar University. During the training session they indicated in order to choose the users who will be in the target list, leads in my case, I would need to create a report and filter the users I am interested in. I am using the Open Source version 4.2.0 and the reports session is not available on open source. What is the best way for me to create a filtered list of leads to send a marketing campaign to without the use of reports?

Create custom fields (text- or dropdown fields) for leads, contacts and prospects within sugar studio (admin area), that will hold the criterias to filter your datasets.

Make sure that you put your field(s) into detail view, edit view, list view and the advanced search area above the list view.

Don't forget to check the option for 'massupdate' in the dialog box.

Now you are able to 'group' and massupdate your leads, contacts and prospects by/with your own criteria in the list view.

If you install the module Power Prospecting (initially coded by mrmilk) you are able to put your 'grouped' leads (contacts, prospects) into your target lists.
