Am installing 5.5.2 on a new site under GoDaddy LAMP setup. I've been using 5.2.x for a couple of years on another GoDaddy site so I know there can be struggles...

Of course, the session management is different in the new version.

It is critical to note that the CRM package is one layer below my <webroot>.


If you are making this type of installation, your <webroot>/php5.ini file will NOT affect the CRM installation.

You MUST create a new <webroot>/<sugarcrm_root>/php5.ini and point your session-path to a directory below this root, with all the requisite permissions. Else you will perpetually see symptoms of "permissions" problems when in fact the session-path is not pointing where you had thought.
