Default setting up multiple crms on a domain

Can you set up multiple CRM's on a single domain? and if so is this recommended? We have been seeing a delay in performance when we do this.

I can't think how having them on the same domain would slow them down except that more users using more different databases might exhaust the disk cache. I run about 12 copies on my server and dont see any difference, but I am the only user most of the time.

    hi
i don't think that using multiple crm in single domain causes any delay, coz i m using 6 crm in a single domain and almost 50 users are logging in into different crm at the same time from different locations. and it's working smoothly. and i m new to crm , so plz tell me that will it affect my server in future.
