share info on SugarCRM Open Source

Hi,

I would like my entire company to use CRM in order to share information and to easier send information to all our customers worldwide. I have SugarCRM Open Source 4.5 downloaded on my PC, can the other users from different PC's (different locations) access to my documents etc? Sorry I am not so technical, can you please help me by telling me how I can set that up? Do we have to find a host for it?

You could in theory have the company share access to your laptop - acting as a server - but you would have to have the laptop connected to the network and powered on all the time for that to be useful, and the performance would likely be a little slow. More normal would be to load the SugarCRM software on a server at your offices, and all of you share access to it.

Unfortunately not all computers are networked also because we are all based in different cities. In order to share the information we put on our CRM, I guess we need as you suggested to find one common server to make it web driven? Is that correct? Once we have done that there shouldn't be a problem in interacting, viewing and sharing information.

Yes - all the client PCs need is an Internet connection (or a LAN connection if they are local to the server) and a web browser.

I need to provide a full report to my Managers to explain what we all need to do in order to install Sugar CRM 4.5.

Now, please correct me if I am wrong, we all need to find a host first. Our companies are all located in different cities, so if we want to share information we need a server. How can I find a host?
What will be the next steps to take before downloading the Sugar Open Source 4.5 from your site?
I read all your guides but it is still not very clear to me.

There are many hosting poviders all across the globe, choose according to your budget.
Make sure before installing sugar on server it should have MySQL-4.1, php-4.4 and apache
Download SugarCRM and install it.
