    Default Single user advice

    Hi,

I have recentlydownloaded and installed a copy of sugarOS.

I am evaluating it for use in real estate sales, I need a product to track up to 2000 personal clients. I like Sugar because I run Kubuntu, like OS and I need to access my sales data from anywhere. I have setup Sugar on my home server which allow me to access data from anywhere..

I have access to a good php/mysql programmer, but I would like to know if anyone has used sugar and customised it primarily for the realestate business and in particular for a "single saleperson.

    Regards

    Paul

The 2000 clients shouldn't be an issue. Our company has almost 3000 in our version of Sugar. I also run this on a server so both people int he company can access it, but I also mirror the database to my laptop where I've got Apache, MySQL and PHP installed so I can access the data even when I don't have a network connection.

As far as how well it works for real estate, if you can give a bit of an example of what you want to track/do with Sugar, someone may be able to give you a better idea.

I am a salesman who contracts my service to a local realtor.

What I would like to do is use Sugar as a sales tool but have the ability to relate contacts to properties rather than accounts.
I have two types of customer---Vendors and Purchasers. A customer is usually both at some point. I need to track my sales process that aims to turn leads into Vendors, my core business as well as keep track of purchasers. My records to date are neatly piled in trays and card boxes, excel spreadsheets etc, It just got too big and unusuable! I want to set sugar up as a one stop shop. I could use ACT but I am totally opensource and would like to keep it that way.

You can customize it very easily. There are several ways to go about doing what you want to do. you might want to use the account as the person and the contact as the property. Because one account can have many contacts. It is easy enough to rename tabs and lables. without a programmer. and you can attach image files to a property(contact).
