    Default SQL data communication

Just in the initial stages of making a decision on a CRM solution, but one thing that is of particular interest to us is the capability of utilizing and synchronizing the data currently within or existing SQL database. Ideally, there would be a solution that keeps the data in the CRM solution up do date with our existing database.

In a nutshell, we process payment transactions, so the databases themselves must remain separate. But to be able to sync some of the data within the transaction system database to the CRM solution is a must. To have the data synchronies as the transaction system is updated is even better. Can this be done?

As I said, we are just beginning to narrow the CRM field. I'm certainly not a developer - more like the business manager heading up the task. So, I might not know all the answers for question you might throw at me, but I can get the answers assuming you need more information to assist in answering my question. Thanks in advance for any help in this question.

    Hi KGP,

This sounds like a question for your transaction software vendor...does that software have the ability to make an API call to another system when a transaction happens? If so, then you could just make a call to the Sugar API to synchronize the data. Sugar has a web services (SOAP) API that could be called by another program.

It is certainly possible, but the complexity involved in doing so will vary, depending on your exact requirements.

The Sugar database is completely open, so you could easily update it via external tools.

SugarCRM is very well equipped to do what you want it to do, as long as you're not thinking bout millions of records.

In any case, be sure to find the right people for the job (sugarcrm experts) .
