    Default Studio Problems

    Hello All,

I have a new SugarCRM 4.5.0h installation on a Windows 2003 Server / IIS6 / SQL Server 2005. I have created 10 custom fields for the Account module, know I am trying to modify the view layout to rearrange the existing fields, add rows and add my custom fields.

Each time I start to make changes, I have issues with fields duplicating themself. Say I have 4 fields on 2 rows like this

    ColumnA ColumnB
    Field1 Field2
    Field3 Field4

When I add field2 in column B it duplicates itself on the next row in ColumnA. If I add Field3 it duplicates itself in Field2 (Column B, on the above row). Does my explanation make sense?

How do I prevent this from happening? Is it a bug or is it a behavior I can aviod my changing the way I modify the forms?

    Thanks
    Gerald

    Hi Gerald,

The new studio editor of Sugar 4.5.0 came with a number of bugs.

Some of these bugs were already fixed by the Sugat team some of them are still there.
With the current studio editor you can easely break your forms in a way that the Studio editor will not be able to recover them.
The broken forms are repairable by manually fixing the templates files, assuming you know their syntax.

I would not recommand to use the studio editor in Sugar 4.5.0.
If you really need to use it, try to reduce your work to the minimun to minimize the chances
of breaking your forms. Be prepared to backup the forms and undo the chances if they got broken.

If possible I would wait for Sugar 4.5.1 as in this version most Studio bugs should be fixed by the Sugar team.

    Cheers

    Thank you,

I do not know the syntax, since I an not too familiary with PHP. But I am a developer (OO, .net, SQL, html, asp) so I imagine I could grasp it after some research.

However, if I want to wait for 4.5.1, would it be easier to just restore the forms I edited with originals? Would that fix it? if so, should I just search for files that have been edited (at the time I was doing changes) and replace them with originals, or what is the best way? Is there anything to be careful of when restore files? I figure "no", but I thought I would ask.

I "save & published" the original form before I edited it, so I could restore it using the built in restore. But the restore is not working. Regardless of which restore I choose, it restores the same version so I am not too confident the restore will give me what I want. I would rather do it mannually.

    Thanks,
    Gerald

Ok, I updated the parser file, restored the orginal editview files, and deleted the working files.

I can now edit, and it works better. But I cannot get it to publish. As a simple test, I move a single field and publish it. I cannot get my new form to view. I logout, close the broswer, even restart IIS. Is that an issue with publishing files or are there some steps I can take to get this to work?

    Thanks

Are there any updates regarding a patch to resolve this issue? I can't get Sugar into production without being able to place my custom fields into the appropriate modules. This layout management issue will pretty much halt my deployment.

Just for reference. I could not get my pages to publish, even though the new fiels existed. So I just manually published them and they work fine.

    Thanks
