    Angry SuagrCRM 500c Email Client

    Do we have any way to use the OLD Email client and way of handling emails?

    Today the new email client in SugarCRM is TOO buggy to be used in a production environnement.

    If you create a new Contact/Case or what ever from a received email we dont have any way to see that this email is now linked to Contact/Case or what ever .

    I didnt sucess to move any email from one folder to an other one.

    The flag feature doesnt work.

    You didn't mention anything about the hardware you're trying to use SugarCRM with. I've managed to work through several bugs for the email module and a MS Exchange server. If you're trying use MS Exchange with SugarCRM, this thread might help.

    I am testing SugarCRM PRO and CE 500c fresh install without sample data
    on
    - Win XP Pro Apache 1.3.37 and 2.0.59 MySQL 5.0.45 PHP 4.4.4 4.4.7 5.2.0 AND 5.2.5
    I have many installation on many servers and i fetch the same issues on all config

    Regarding teh Mail box i have tested IMAP and POP with Gmail Boxes

    But the pb is NOT the config the pb is that this new Client Mail a lot of bug have been added compared to the (faster but less sexy) old Sugar Client Mail.
    Today it s NOT possible to use in in a Production environnement since all users are lost with it (bug and lack of features).

    I have an idea: stick with Thunderbird + sugarcrm plugin for the time being.

    I didnt test the plugin yet with 500c
    Did you?

    With 451 it was great! even if you can not synch Task and meetings

    Hello SugarDev.net,
    i am still trying for that email speed problem,but found no solution yet.
    I have also installed outlander as i posted in thread http://www.sugarcrm.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32330.
    Sorry to interrupt in this thread,i just saw your name in active users list,that is how i asked.
    Some times email is archieved to sugar and is listed in appropriate module's history.
    But most of the times it doesnt' and an error comes.
    Also i have tried to comment some code of inbound email ,as mow we are trying to disable the Inbound paert of email module but still speed has not decreased much.

    Do you have any ideas on this.

    I recently had to put in over 16 hours into the email problems of one of our recent *fixed priced* projects. Just to make the darn thing fetch emails and send out some. It still is very basic and non-logical, and slow. That marked the end of my (and my company's) trust in the Email client. I'm sorry, I can't help you any further with SugarCRM 5.0's Email module. My advice is just to consider it 'beta'.

    I also hope a quite big work around it.
    Sugar 5.0 let me think about Microsoft Vista sometimes ...

    Will 5.1 be the SP1 patch ?

    lougaou, I see the problem of not seeing the detail view of an imported email to figure it out if its associated to contact/lead/case. You can click on the "All Emails" link and search for that email and then find out. I know that its not the most intuitive way of doing things but we are in the process of addressing this issue in the current email UI so that you might have a button or a menu option or something to see the detail view of am email.

    In 51beta, I have already put the monitored folders UI which will allow you to pick multiple folders. For reference look at this forum.

    As a part of this fix, I have made some performance fixes for the email UI. Before this fix whenever you click on the email tab, for every Inbound email account the user has a access to, we try to connect to the mail server to doanload all the folders and this process used to take a lot tof time. In 51beta, I have removed that code and cache all the folders this account has access to in the database.

    Here is the detail description on how to use email UI for 5.0

    In451, for the inbound email, you had an option to choose a particular folder to be monitored and all the emails will get imported in the sugar system.

    Here is a way to use email in 5.0 version.
    1) If you want all the emails to be imported, create a group mailbox in the admin section and select a partiuclar folder to be monitored and attach this group mailbox to a group folder and run the cron job. Ths process will import all the message in sugar system from the monitored folder ONLY and it will delete all the messages from that monitored folder. In this case the system will behave exactly like 451. This facility should be used for the business purpose as all the data is available in the sugar system.

    2) In case of personal email you should set up a mail account in the email UI. In this case it will grab all the folders from the mail box.

    The check mail button, does the check mail of of all the folders in all the mail accounts. So if you have configured more than one account (GMAIL, YAHOO), it will do the check mail for both the accounts and all the folders in the account. This check mail process will only get the headers of the message. Once you click on a particular message at that point we goto mail server and try to download the message.

    The purpose of synchronize action is to bring the mailbox in sync with mail server. So in this scenarion, we will delete all the email_cache and do the check mail of the accoutn for all the folders.

    When you associate a sugar folder to the Inbox and set up a cron job in Admin, the emails are imported AUTOMATICALLY. When you have an entry in the field "Assign To Group Folder: " it menas that you are associating your inbox to a group folder. Then on the email UI all you will see is this group folder. Then you need to go into Admin/Scheduler link and then enable "Check Inbound Mailboxes". based on how frequently you want to run this process, it will import all the emails automatically into your group folder.

    Also, if you have a contact/lead/prospect whose email address matches the email address of the imported email then those email will automatically appear in the contact/lead/prospect's history subpanel. You need not do anything.

    Let me know what are the other issues you have for the email module and I will try to fix those issues.
