Unhappy Sugar 5.2.0 - Problems importing CSV files

    Hello,
Recently I have installed sugar 5.2.0 in my computer and decided to move my data from Sugar 5.0.0. The data is located in the company server.
I have exported my accounts, leads, opportunities, contacts in csv file format, now when I try to import them I got nothing, just errors. I mapped the fields and no record is imported.
    I will appreciate any help.

    Hi,

Are you trying to import data from Import option in SugarCRM / Directly from Database ? What error do you face during import ?

    Hi Rafb

Why didn't you upgrade a copy of the existing system instead?
A good work around is to:
    1. duplicate the system and database;
    2. upgrade to the latest version.

    That works fine.
But regarding the errors you faced during importing process, which errors had been displayed?
Have a look in the tail of the sugarcrm.log at the root of your sugarcrm system.
Let us know the errors regarding the importing process.

    Cheers

thanks for your comments...... There is an error message, no record is imported. At the end of the process I have to undo it and start from the beginning and always got the same result

I'm using the "export" command button located in contact, leads, opportunities and accounts. I generated a CSV file for any of those groups. Then i try to import those files using the "import" command button in the program installed in my computer and it's when i got nothing. There is a link "download List of errors" and the "error.csv" file generated says (part of it):

ID given is too long to fit in the field (maximum length is 36 characters),"ID (id)","""b1fbc238-bb21-0744-5c75-48973fb07b01""",1
    Invalid value (should be a 1 or 0),"Deleted (deleted)","""0""",1
Value not in dropDown list. Allowed values are: ,Analyst,Competitor,Customer,Integrator,Investor,P artner,Press,Prospect,Reseller,Other,"LBL_TYPE (account_type)","""Prospect""",1
    Value not in dropDown list. Allowed values are: ,Apparel,Banking,Biotechnology,Chemicals,Communica tions,Construction,Consulting,Education,Electronic s,Energy,Engineering,Entertainment,Environmental,F inance,Government,Healthcare,Hospitality,Insurance ,Machinery,Manufacturing,Media,Not For Profit,Recreation,Retail,Shipping,Technology,Telec ommunications,Transportation,Utilities,Other,"LBL_ INDUSTRY (industry)","""Healthcare""",1
ID given is too long to fit in the field (maximum length is 36 characters),"ID (id)","""e6679379-b1e0-2309-a255-489800a34752""",2
    Invalid value (should be a 1 or 0),"Deleted (deleted)","""0""",2

I don't undestand why "ID" field is considered to long when has 36 characters, the same amount when it is generated by the export process..... and so on....

I thought it would be a piece of cake to do this, but don't understand what happens.... I think there wouldn't be to much difference between version 5.0.0 and 5.2.0.... they are only CSV files..... just data separated by commas....

thanks again in advance for your interest...

    Cheers...
