Default (sugar 6.2 CE) how to implement a N-N relationship?

    hello,

I would like to modify sugarCRM community edition, what I want is to add the management of some accounts working for other accounts: it's like the subsidiary relationship, but is rather a partnership relation.

what I want is a new subpanel, and some properties in the account panel : a company can have one or more partner and a company can be a partner of one or more companies.

I first tried a idea consisting of create a 1-N relationship between 2 accounts, then I exported the changes (in the studio) and I installed the module, the things seemed to work but there was an error : if C is a partner of A, it can't be a partner of B : a company can only be the partner of one other company.

do you know how I can have the required behavior?

please, I' m new in sugarCRM, give me some successive steps!

    thanks,

    olivier

ps : does it needs a drop-down field?
and with a N-N relationship I have the same behavior : a company can only be a partner of one other company.

I think you need Many-to-Many relationship.

    hello,

thanks for your quick answer, I think also I need a many-to-many relationship, but I might have seen somewhere that between two same modules (and in my case the two modules are the same : "account") the relationship is master-to-detail.

so I would like to have a confirmation it is possible.

Cool Re: (sugar 6.2 CE) how to implement a N-N relationship?

It is possible. I had done it few days before.
There will be only problem with removing one Account from another one. You will need to remove from both sides.

ok, could you tell me if the following actions works:
1- create a new relationship in the studio, N-N between two accounts
2- in the studio, export the changes in a zip file
3- impoirt the zip file from the module manager,

because for me it doesn't work : what I expect is to have two subpanels created in the account module, and it is not done.

    Do I have missed sth?

    I have read this :

You can also create a relationship between a module and itself. In this case, the relationship becomes a parent-child relationship. For example, you can create a relationship from Accounts to Accounts in order to create sub-accounts within the primary account.
    in this page : http://developers.sugarcrm.com/docs/...n.html#1669917

well, here is the result of my searches.

I tried to make a N-N relationship between two accounts modules, but in the same sub-panel I had the links to others companies.
it is complicated to explain : if A is linked to B, in the subpanel (of my relationship) I have B appearing , and in the subpanel of A I have B.

that's not what I want; I want to have two subpanels "fathers" and "sons" and if A is the father of B, B is the son of A.

do you know how to do?

yes, it represents the reality : some companies work for - say - an hospital, so a company can work for many hospitals, and also an hospital can have many companies working for it.

    is it possible?
