Default Sugar CRM Open Source as Content Manager?

    Hi,

I am looking for a contact management system but all I found was CRM software. I took a look at sugar and am wondering if it is possible (and meaningful) to leave all the CRM stuff aside for now and just use its contact management capabilities to manage my network of people I know.

    Here's what I want:

    1. Customize the contact sheet so that I can enter exactly the information about a person that I want
    2. Include at least one picture about the person in the contact sheet
    3. Enter all the contact info that I have about all people I know
    4. Set up eMail reminders: I want to receive eMail reminders a few days before someones birthday, wedding day and other events. And another reminder on the day of this event.
    5. Set up one time events such as if a person gives me his business card and says: "Call me end of the month" - then I want to a) attach a note to the contact in which I summarize my talk with him and b) create an event so that at the end of the month I get an email reminder to call that person
    6. After I called that person, I want to add another note summarizing the content of that talk as well
    7. Create recurring events such as "follow up with that person every 6 months" - and then every 6 months I get a reminder eMail
    8. If I send that person an email or receive one from that person, I want to be able to attach these to the profile
    9. When I call up the profile of a person I want to see the history of all interactions (all notes, all call summaries, all emails and such) in chronological order

Is all this easily possible with Sugar CRM Open Source Edition?

    Thanks

    s.

    Hi Inizer,

SugarCRM can do all of that, much of it without any modification. Some of the email related issues can be addressed with the Outlook or Thunderbird plugins. The workflows (e.g. email reminders) can be configured without programming in Sugar Pro...or you can create simple logic hooks and CRON jobs for Sugar CE.

Lampada Global offers expert SugarCRM implementation services if you need help with the project. Feel free to ping me on Skype (dtokeefe) to discuss details.

    HI dtokeefe,

Thanks for your reply. That original post had my exact same questions. Very insightful.

I don't think I will need help implementing though because I am a software guy myself and documentation for this open source seems extensive enough.

    Regards
