Sugar CRM & Project Management- Construction

hi,
i was looking into implementing SugarCRM for a construction industry. To explain the basic needs- in simple terms I need the following functions to be performed .

Basically four functions-
1> Accounting Purpose related to project like invoices and payments to vendors. Simple task based functions
2> Estimating -Cost tracking & Scheduling
3>Project Management functions- Keeping track of project
4> Sharing common data files among users like sharing drawings , Change order forms, RFI forms so as to make sure everyone is on same page

1>When you get a project- All drawings are uploaded for references which can be accessed by users assigned

2>A basic data entry from excel is done about the project Estimate. The project is divided into 10-15 sections like walls, beams, slab etc etc and 5-6 sub sections and each has list of material, labor, vendors cost etc etc.

3> A project schedule is imported using MS Project or Prima Vera to track work progress

3>A project access is assigned to two main user teams- Accounting ( does invoices and payment) and Project Managers

4> Project manager- Keeps track of cost, work done, Payments made etc

5> A platform by which information can be shared- RFI, Change Order among the team so everybody is on same page and share latest updated information


To give a fair idea, there is currently available software which i believe is CRM by Viewpoint.

I want to do something similar but on medium scale to meet my needs.

Hopefully the above gives a brief idea of how construction project management works.

My questions are:

1> What would be the best platform to work on such concept. I plan to make once module at a time and break down the whole project. Can SugarCRM perform the above? Any other suggestions?

2> I am flexible and am looking for something which can be customized. I would prefer something which doesn't require CODING/PROGRAMING. Something which is user friendly and can be customized.

Is Sugar CRM a good choice?

OOTB, Sugar doesn't do all of these things. However, our third-party developer and partner communities have built many different modules to enhance Sugar for different verticals. I would suggest checking out SugarExchange and SugarForge ( links at the top of this page ) and see what is available.

Please let us know what you find and if it addresses your needs or not.

I did check the links above. I regret to say I cannot find anything which can be used for Project Management.

Are there companies in construction industry who uses Sugar?

I do know construction companies using Microsoft Dynamics, Vitiger

To get you an idea what are the basic needs- Google and Check out Viewpoint Construction Software. Its an intensive software-- I am planning to implement Sugar on a small/Medium Scale but on similar concept

Any guidance?

I'm looking for something like you've written. I'm looking to use sugarCRM as CRM and as a framework to develop.

Mi requirements are:
Opportunity - public or private biddings / or quotes - Project Construction
Heavy machinery Management
workers Timetables

For every "module" I want to control costs, parts, ROI, etc

I think using few extensions we can start to work.

Is someone interested to join forces to start a similar sugarCRM project?
