Default Sugar CRM vs. Centric CRM Comparison

    What are your thoughts?

I am running a comparison of both sugar and centric as open source crm alternatives and wanted some community feedback as to the speed between the two. I have both sugar 4.0 and centric 3.1 installed on local servers for testing and the speed of centric is truly impressive. What can be done to sugar to improve it's speed? I am running sugar on spike so I imagine moving it to a trimmed up linux environment would help but how much? I understand that Centric's features aren't near as robust or well supported as SugarCRM but the speed is something I've never seen in a browser based crm product.

What are you thoughts on the two products from both the speed and functionallity side?

    Thanks

In my opinion is Sugar better -- of corse, if You understand PHP. For end-user Sugar 4.0 has all that salesperson needs. But some features (for example Scheduler) in Centric better. Good idea for community -- making comparisation chart.

Thumbs down Re: Sugar CRM vs. Centric CRM Comparison

Centric is Java Web based, not PHP, & only works with PostgresSQL. Those are both seriously limiting factors to me. I tried out the demo, and I can't say it was that much faster - over the web, on their server, of course (which would compare with my Sugar, which is on a hosting server). Plus the calendar looks like something that crawled out of the cheese! On top of all of that, I was unable to to get the iCal subscription to work...
