    Default Sugar dog-slow after upgrading

    After upgrading from 4.5.1 to the latest version of CE, we've found that Sugar has been dog-slow. It can take 10-30 seconds to open up a simple contact record. The box it's running at is a modern machine, lots of RAM, and nothing else running on it, so there's no real hardware reason for the thing to be so sad.

    Any suggestions for how to tune this thing up? As it is now, I'm getting protests for co-workers who are now refusing to use it.

    So embarrased... I am always coming down on others when they don't give me any details. Anyway, here they are:

    Windows XP Pro SP2
    Pentium D 3.4GHz
    2GB RAM
    OC3 connection via ISP
    Apache 2.2.4
    PHP 5.2.3
    MySQL 5.0.41-community-nt
    InnoDB

    455 accounts
    1669 contacts
    1708 leads

    From PHP.INI
    max_execution_time = 60;
    max_input_time = 600;
    memory_limit = 350M;

    I don't know much about running Sugar on an XP platform. Seems like the wrong tool for the job. We've always had ours on Linux, first Ubuntu and now Centos (even more secure). I had originally tried 5.0 on Windows 2003 and SQL Server but it was awful.

    I've always had great response running on Linux. On the Centos box we use the APC cache for speeding up the PHP cache. You might see if that helps.

    Also, having the memory limit so high might actually be a negative. I know my current sysadmin likes to keep that limit as low as possible without causing problems. Again it's Linux so it's much smarter about managing memory.

    I've got some postings and there're lots of wiki articles about getting Sugar going on Linux. I think you'll find that it all works much more smoothly.

    You might also try using Google Chrome as a client. I've been using it on 5.2a the last couple of days and it's awesome. Also, are you using Firefox? IE has simply been atrocious with Sugar.

    Thanks, but we're running Windows. I like Linux, but that's not this application.

    Hi David

    Was this machine working with modem internet connection before upgrading?
    Go to Admin -> Repair -> Repair Database.
    I'm not sure, but perhaps the database indexes had been lost.

    Modem? You mean like dial-up? No. This is a box on a broadband line at our ISP. Am I misunderstanding the question?
