Default >>> Sugar Email Explanation <<<

Ok, so I've been looking through this forum and it seems like Email is complicated to setup and doesn't always run smoothly (plus it seems to have the largest number of bugs). Has anyone, including the good folks from Sugar, come up with a step-by-step guide to setting you your email so that it WORKS?

No guesswork, no trial and error....just a simple guide that you follow and it works. Is anyone aware of such a guide?

I'd recommend waiting for 4.0.1 to drop sometime this coming week, try it out, and see. It's way too new a release to have a tutorial for it. The FAQs I setup were for the users who were having problems, and aren't necessarily the majority. You may be fortunate and have a good configuration, and everything *just works* OOTB.

    SugarCris,

Thanks for your reply. Can you please spend 10 minutes for our sake and just bullet point the things we need to do so that inbound email works?

Here are the things I want to know if we can do, and if so, what are the steps we need to take to make it happen:

    - Please enumerate the tasks we need to carry out just to setup Inbound emails (why do we need to create this Group inbox if I have no need to route emails to sales, support, etc but my users are, say, real estate agents who do not work together, but on their own?)
    - Can I check my yahoo/hotmail/gmail accounts? If so, what are the steps?
    - If my company has 5 users and each need to check their own individual emails (yahoo, earthlink, etc), do I need to setup a Group Inbox or is there a way to bypass this and setup their individual email accounts so that nothing needs to enter this Gorup bucket but their individual emails go directly to their Inbox?
    - Please state the steps I need to carry out to setup Inbound emails if:
    a) I work in a company that has their own email server
    b) I work in a company that does not have their own email server and I have to rely on my personal email

I would really appreciate some answers on these as it seems like there are LOTS of questions in this area and no one is really answering or documenting this in any way. We're just trying trial and error and figuring things out along the way.

I know that this is OS and support isn't always the best, but if you have some time, please respond to my points in as much detail as possible.

    Thank you.
