    Default Sugar for music promotion

My wife is an independent promoter for indie bands on college radio. We're trying to set up SugarCRM so that she and her partners (who are all over the country) can share contacts & track them.

We've been working on setting up Sugar for a little while, and I think we have a pretty good idea how to use it best. But there is one feature she wants that I can't find an obvious analog for in the existing suite. We're using Sugar Open Source 4.2.1, btw.

Here's the feature: every week she gets reports from all the radio stations about how many times they've played her bands' songs, and where they "chart" those songs (FYI, usually a song's chart position has relatively little to do with how often it has been played, at least on college radio). She needs to enter those figures and keep track of them over the course of a 10-week promotion campaign. Ideally, you'd be able to enter the data weekly, like this for each band:

Date | Station | Song | Plays this week | Chart position this week

(I realize this is not normalized for songs & stations--that's probably OK for us). Then we'd want a way to do a mini-report so that you could see each band's history all on one screen, or exported as a CSV. I imagine more complicated reports (highest chart position, etc) would also be useful.

Is there some current feature in Sugar that can do this for us? Or does this sound like a necessary customization?

    Thanks,

Why not putting this in the calendar? I think it would be very suitable.

Thanks. But how? These are not tasks, meetings, or appointments. More importantly, would there be an easy way to look at a band, and see what its current and past rankings are? I don't see how.

    Thanks,
    Matt

Sure that is possible. Every band have its own account, so you also can add meetings (where you fill in the dates when the band had airplay and where, complete with the position) and task and so on. Via Studio you create some extra fields if necessary, which you also make available in search, so you can group things. Later in version 4.5 you can even save your search criteria!

The Sugar Pro version gives you more power, because of all the reports you can use, but you also can use Jasper reports on the Open Source version.
But you also can do an export to Excel.

There are various techniques through you and your wife can share music promotion contacts, make a database of all the contacts of music promotion contacts and share that database or you can also join Facebook like social networking sites that may help to get the a maintained list of friends or contacts.

Today it is very easy to promote individually. Social networking sites will be helpful in promoting band and music and band. So many online promoters are available there on internet. It will be useful to take their help.

I am just an ordinary user. So I really look forward you could create good software in the near future.
