Default Sugar Network for Open Source looks like a good deal

Did anyone else notice this? Support for the SugarCRM OpenSource product - pretty awsome. I just skimmed the article in Computer World. I guess the details of the product will determine if it is a sweet deal.

I've been critical of Sugar's product strategy in the past - but I am happy that Sugar is making this move.

    Hi Tholcomb -

Yeah, we're pretty excited about the new Sugar Network offering. We're working on building out Sugar University right now which will have a training program from Sugar Open Source as well.

You can learn more about Network here:

    Cheers!

    Clint,

I have 3 users now - and might be getting a total of 10. Five of the 10 will be mobile sales folks - would I use the Outlook plug-in to help my mobile sales folks update Sugar data while off line? I imagine that they could get online and synch their data?

Also - does the product include one support case per user purchased or one per company? So if I purchased Sugar Network for 5 users, I'd have 5 support cases per year?

The sales manager will like this.

The Outlook Client won't do what you're looking for there. It needs a live network connection to the Sugar Suite application in order to do its magic. What you are looking for there is the Sugar Offline Client which is only available with Sugar Professional and Sugar Enterprise.

Too bad on the offline functionality - bitter sweet you might say...

Not so much of a big deal - before I got all excited about the Sugar Network possibilities, I had decided to just use a laptop cellular card for our sales people to get online.

Any chance 6 months to a year down the line of ala carte purchasing of the Offline Client for SugarCRM OS?

Still a good deal just for the support calls and the user training stuff.

The benefits are threefold: 1) you receive a support case to help with any issues you may experience with Sugar Open Source; 2) Sugar Plug-In for Microsoft Outlook (new and improved in 4.2) and Sugar Plug-In for MSFT Word (for managing documents, letters, contracts, etc.); 3) and you will receive access to online training when we launch Sugar University this summer. Hope this helps! Chris Harrick, SugarCRM Product Marketing
