Sugar for pre-sales??

Hi All

My company has a Sugar Professional instance that has been heavily customised to meet our needs for post-sales management of clients, but we don't use it for pre-sales.

We have a number of geographically spread distributors (individuals) and was wondering whether you think the Sugar Community version is suitable for them to manage their pre-sales activities?? We really don't want "prospects" in our Sugar Professional instance, but it would be good if they could transfer data once a "prospect" became a client - is this possible??

Hi Mike,

Sugar is designed to be used for both pre and post sales. The leads module is generally used for pre sales, and can be converted into Contacts, Accounts, and Opportunities once they become qualified.

As you know, the system can be customized to meet your needs and your business flow. We would need to know more details about your business process and what you are hoping to do in order to best recommend an approach.

The short answer is "Yes" ... Community Edition has the same business logic for the Sales Force Automation modules as Pro & Ent.

The only friction-fat process will be the creation of a new account/contact in your Pro version once you have converted a Prospect in CE ... if it's ;pw volume, manually key. If it's high volume use the SOAP API.
