Sugar Professional - after one year?

I am looking at using Sugar but need the reporting option to get data out.

I emailed the sugar sales people and asked them about the on premise solution for 5 users. All the licsenses were for one year and I asked what would happen after the year was up. They said that it would stop working.

We are a small charity and sometimes we struggle with cashflow. If we did not renew immediatley I would be concerned that the system would stop working unless we paid our $1000.

Also, what happens to the system if the Sugar company goes bust? Does our software stop working after a year?

Does anyone have experience of what happens after the 1 year - is there some block on the system after the time?

As I recall, I think the screen has several messages at the top once the date passes - but the system, though ugly, still works. This might have changed since I saw it 6 months ago.

Don't know that I'd worry about Sugar going broke -

1 it's not likely,
2 if they do, someone will likely buy them, and
3 if it all goes down, cracks for their license system would likely surface.

You also have several other reporting options, such as Jasper Reports, or for a fully integrated reporting solution see Info At Hand.
