    Default sugar for residential/retirement community?

    I'm looking for some tips on the best way to customize Sugar for a retirement community that sells Apts/Cottages. We are currently using an CRM app that is structured in such a way that uses Prospects, Contacts, and Activities and Status Codes.

    It is a very simple setup where Prospects are the actual individual or couple who are a potential admission. Contacts would either the same as Prospect or a family member involved in the sales process
    Status Code - tracks level of interest or progression through the sales process (ie. interest/commitment level)
    Activities - the same as Sugar

    I am looking for guidance on the best way to convert this to Sugar. My current thinking is the following:
    Prospects = Accounts
    Contacts = Leads or Contacts???
    Status Code = Opportunities???

    Also we need to have a waitlist feature that tracks people on the waitlist and their apt preferences. Where they appear on a waitlist is designated by when they put down an initial deposit. We also need to track when apt offers are made to waitlist people. Lastly, we need a way of differentiating actual current residents from propsective ones.

    Just curious if anyone can provide some feedback on how to design modules accordingly.

    Thanks,
    Keith

    Hi Hooverkj,

    I would say the following points assuming that you use community edition :

    - Account is a family.
    - Contact is a member of a family and also person involved in the sales process.
    - Lead would be contact from your website (can be converted to a family and contacts when sales process requires it).
    - Opportunity would be an opportunity to sell an appartment or a cottage : sales status + you have to add several fields to qualify the proposal you made.
    Carefully choose the module where you describe family needs and what will be your offer. Remember that in Community edition you will not be able to create reports like I want to get a list of all family who were proposed a flat in Washingthon.
    Hope that helps.

    Thanks for the reply. That really does help. Although I seem to encountering a bit of a problem with the Accounts-Contacts-Leads relationship.

    A lot of the problems I am encountering have to to do with a B2C setup as outlined in this thread: http://www.sugarcrm.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4138

    Ideally, I'd like to have everyone in as a Account with one or more contacts. I'm just wondering if there is a way to make inputting new person a single operation (ie. Account & Contacts are created through one tab/module)

    The place I work at used the Business Card form to achieve this result.
