    Default SugarCRM License?

I'm an open source mania but a SugarCRM newbie. I wonder how I can modify Sugar Open Source and "resell" it.

My understanding is that Sugar Open Source is delivered under SPL, and an ISV can include it in a "larger work" and can sell it as others sell following products.

    Splendid CRM, CrouselCRM, info@hand, AuraQuestCRM

It seems Sugar partners can resell these products too. But do I need to pay royalties to SugarCRM if I sell my product?

I don't understand why SugarCRM is helping other ISVs though. Why not GPL?

Because if SugarCRM were GPL, then Sugar Pro and Enterprise would have a little issue.

    Ah, that's why.
So they seem to censor some words here. They don't welcome ISVs' reselling Sugar Open Source. Why SPL? SPL (or MPL) doesn't work for them. It only makes the market fragments.

    cyprus20,
You pointed out an important thing. One of the tough things for SugarCRM is that it likes to encourage developers but does not want them to do much as they divide the market.
But this can not be stopped as long as SPL goes. Customers and partners may get confused until a new license is deployed.

Customers always decide. We like to sell what a customer wants as some Sugar partners sell Sugar variations. And SPL helps all. (except SugarCRM)

So my first question is; Can I sell both Sugar Pro and my variations without paying royalties to Sugar?

Looks like a Sugar management member authorized a Sugar variation in north Europe. Do I need to pay partner fees?

Either answer will have side effects on the community.

I believe you don't need to be a partner if you like to work on Sugar Open Source only.
