Thumbs up SugarCRM should marry Asterisk PBX

    Hi,

Here goes a "view to the future" suggestion... I like SugarCRM a lot and it seems to be very well accepted in the open source and business community. SugarCRM already has very good CRM features and with all the friends developing the product it would be a "homerun" to just go where anybody has gone before.

If SugarCRM integrates there CRM with Asterisk Open Source PBX (www.asterisk.org) it can expand it user base to collection companies, telemarketing, inbound sales (integrating calling features such as ACD, IVR, Predictive Dialing and others). It would be an excellent marriage SugarCRM and Asterisk PBX. It can become a standard in every business. A bundle package can be developed that includes all the products in just one installation kit. The future of open source is to integrate great solutions that can be feature rich and easy to use and install such as XAMPP www.xampp.org (bundle package to ease the installation of PHP, MySQL and Apache)

This can become a package that can make an impact in hosted applications business and many other, it's a package that can compete head to head with Salesforce.com (www.salesforce.com) and Five9 (www.five9.com) marriage for instance.

To survive in the business and open source world it is a great idea to just "merge" products to have new opportunities, surpass frontiers, get to new levels and get more users.

This is my humble opinion of a new view that SugarCRM should at least brainstorm.

    Kind Regards,

    Joel

Check out Asterisk @ Home, it is a complete linux distribution with Asterisk and SugarCRM combined.
I'm not sure how much integration between the two products there is but it all gets installad and can be accessed
    by a web browser etc.
    Check it out http://asteriskathome.sourceforge.net/

That's a great suggestion. Asterisk@Home is amazing from what I have seen so far. It does it all for you. I needed SugarCRM at my work and also wanted to toy with Asterisk (we need a cheap PBX). This package might fit the bill for everything we need!
