SugarCRM vertical application - Electronic Medical Records for physicians

I am very excited to announce the extension of SugarCRM for medical practices and hospitals. The package is not used to manage customers, but to run and manage medical clinics and patients records using the same SugarCRM engine. Can you imagine that? I will be adding some more tweaks to be more HIPAA compliant.

Currently, I am supporting only medical clinics to record patients and their diagnosis including medications, prescriptions, immunizations, Past Family and Social history (PSFH), History of Present Illness (HPI) and Examination. I also included CPT and ICD codes. To accomplish this, I have removed some CRM related modules, created new modules, edited the calendar for a front desk person to reserve appointments when patients call, and tweaked the engine little bit for medical related purposes.

In future, I will include Telephony modules so the module can call patients about the appoinments some 24hour before. If you already have this module, please let me know. I want simple hardwares to support such TAPI. I might also include email campaigns such as sending information material about drug recalls, new drugs, refill information, ...

I would also like to get some information about hosting the service to medical community including patient portal. Please pass me the details.

Hi Sankar, well done on that application. Out of curiosity, what do you intend to do with it? Will it be a a paid for module, is it a open source module. More interestingly, do you intend to develop modules for other industries? Real Estate? Engineering/Architects?

I am more focused on the medical application. Currently the focus is to signup physicians and clinics. I am actually talking to some system administrators in healthcare who help me to setup the software for physicians. The next setup is host it for a monthly fee which is substantially low compared to other people inthe industry.
