Does anyone know the status of this utility? It looks extremely promising as a one-stop-shop backup tool for Sugar, but I'm hesitant to propose it to customers since it is still classified 'beta'. Additionally, 'chrisky' hasn't posted since late March and an email to him was bounced.

Is anyone actually using it for production backups *AND* restores? Does it work as advertised?

I my experience, before working for SugarCRM, I found that any backup that is done from within SugarCRM is a bad idea. Backups should be created and scheduled by the operating system. The problem with doing them from a SugarCRM interface is that either you have to let SugarCRM use the root credentials to the database or you only get a partial (SugarCRM only) backup of the database and maybe just the SugarCRM files (depending on permissions).

There are a hundred good backup scripts out there for Linux that will do a complete and restorable backup of the system files and database. I am sure there is something similar for windows (only it probably isn't free).

If you need help finding one for the OS you use let me know and I'll see what I can turn up.
