Sync web calendar with Sugar

I want to create a web based scheduling system. My idea is to have a web page with calendar where users can make an appointment. Is it possible to synchronize this web-calendar with Sugar?

Do I use Sugar with SOAP somehow or what? Has anybody created this kind of system yet?

Any comments?
