Task "related to" project, but now showing with project

Hi!

I'm fairly new to SugarCRM, but so far, so good!

One question: under the "home" tab there's a link to create a task. I created one and "related" it to one of the test projects I set up.

Now, if I go to "home" and then to "tasks" it shows up. ...but if I go to the project page, there are no tasks listed, even though the task was "related to" this project.

If I click on the project, and create a task under the project tab, it shows up.

Is there a difference between "Project tasks" and regular tasks, and if so, why doesn't the regular task show up under the project if it's related to it?

...wow...I hope everyone can understand that...

Yes, Tasks and Project_Tasks are two seperate things. I agree it's confusing. I renamed my Project_tasks as 'Work Orders' for my company.

Thank you for the advice, that's a good idea.

Have you also been able to somehow get around the fact that the Activities Tasks when linked to a Project does not show in the Activities sub panels of a Project? It only has Calls and Meetings under the Activities sub panel of a Project.

The great thing about the Activities Tasks is that a Contact can be selected which can be quite useful when doing activities for a project. Also there is no sort by for the 'Related To' column.

From a training perspective I think we will have to use the Activities Task purely from a self management perspective, and not require this function reflected in the project progress.

You would have to add that to the code. I am not sure why Meetings, calls and EMails made it on the list but not tasks. Let me look into it.

OK, Here is the answer to your prayers. Copy these two files into your Project directory. BACK UP YOUR OLD FILES FIRST!. These are from the 4.0.1 distribution and MAY NOT WORK with 4.0.0 and less likely to work with 3.5.1x.

Let me know. It may NOT work with tasks created before these files are in place. I used 100% sugar style code here. Just added the missing tasks definitions.
