Is there a planned connection for OpenOffice writter for merges

I see that SugarCrm 4.0 will have a mail merge feature that works with IE and MS Word is there a plan to make one for other open source writers like OpenOffice writer (it uses XML instead of MS Word's .doc format).

The version I use here at the office uses RTF formatted files. It would be easy to modify it to use the XML of OpenOffice. I'll look into how hard it would be, but I don't see me getting to it untio laftetr the new year
