    Default Trouble understanding mail merge availability

    Mail merging is a critical tool that I need. I experimented around with a version 4.0.0 Beta download that seems to have Mail merging (and contact reporting) built into it, without any modules installed. I haven't been able to see if it works as I don't have Word on this computer, but I get the idea how it works.

    I have also downloaded Version 4.0.0 (not beta?) off of SugarForge, and it appears to lack this functionallity. Where did it go? I don't see any modules to DL for version 4.0 on either site. I did find a "Ms Word Plugin 30 day trial" download on this site, but it doesn't give me the ability to add anything to CRM itself.

    I'm lost! Is mail merging/contact reporting a feature of Sugar Open Source? If not, what do I need to download or purchase to get it to work?

    I know that there is a module in the admin section under the configuration, however it looks like it has to be purchased. There is a module on the Sugarforge called SugarMerge, however it is lacking in functionality and support currently. I am also with you on needing this and I really do not want to have to break down and develop one myself if I do not have to.

    I did enable that, and still no luck. I have the 30 day trial of the plugin and would like to get it working before the 30 days are up =)

    I haven't had the chance to upgrade to 4.0, but in the Admin manual for 4.0 on page 2, it says that Mail Merge is in the document module.

    So it should be in the OS version of 4.0 but look under the document module.

    It had to be enabled in the user settings as well...got it

    Thanks for the posts everyone.
    yes the mail merge functionality has to be enabled from Admin settings as well as on each user account. At that point you can begin a merge from the Documents module or by select "mail merge" in the listview of the Contacts, Leads, Opportunities, or Accounts modules.
