Extending Relate Fields to Pull Dynamic Information
Now that is a post dated today, oct 19, 2011.
It's my understanding that the only reason that relate fields still exist as of sugar 6.0 is backwards compatibility, and that the relate() function is supposed to replace its functionality as of 6.3. It seems a bit off to be talking about extending the capability of a field by direct access to the code when the code base is about to change to allow admin access to logic to do similar things.
Right about now would be a good time to read the google developer's rant. Go ahead and google it. "google developer rant". It should bring you to a page like this:

Studio, Module Builder, Module loader, and the workflow logic bits is SugarCRM's dogfood, to use his vernacular. It seems to me that they aught to be updated such that the entirety of Sugar can be made entirely and solely with them, no cheating. Solutions that don't involve these tools should be considered blueprints as to how these tools should be improved. So. Bravo on the relate field solution. I can't wait until the tool is created that allows me to do that as an admin!
