    Default UI for Opensource Edition?

I am very New at SugarCRM . I just installed on on my server to test it out. I am reading that there will be some big User interface changes for version 6.

    http://www.sugarcrm.com/crm/products/new-in-sugar.html

Are these UI changes for all versions of SugarCRM? Including the Open Source Edition?

Is there bata versions with the New UI available for download and testing?

    Thank all.....

    Hello,

The new Sugar6 Theme is not available in Community version, only PRO and ENT.

You can access to previews in Sugar website : http://www.sugarcrm.com/crm/products/webcast/6.0.html

Wow thank you for the quick reply. We have a small operation of a 3 man team so the community edition fits us well but if there enhancements to make life easier we are surely interested. Can the UI be bought separately? also can the integration with word and excel be bought separably?

    Thank again..

No, you cannot buy the UI separately. Actually, this is true for any feature of Pro/Enterprise. You cannot buy features separate from the product itself in order to use them in Community Edition for example.

You alternative would be to purchase/obtain a reasonable alternative (assuming there is one) from a third party. Usually you can find these on www.sugarforge.org and www.sugarexchange.com.

On the former you will find some nice Word/Excel links, namely those by GrinMark and KINAMU.

Whether or not a clone of the UI will be made available is unknown at this point in time.

Actually I'm glad CE is not getting these "enhancements". I very much like the last records being available at the top with only one mouseclick. Having to open a drop-down menu and locate the record there will take a few seconds longer each time.

99.9 % of the records in our setup are created by customers themselves through our website, so all the buttons for creating records at the top are useless to us and only take space.

But I think Pro customers would also have the choice to still use the old UI, right?

P.S.: What is the use of viewing one quarter of www.yahoo.com in a "dashlet" as shown in the flash demo, as opposed to opening it in a new tab in the browser?

the UI changes are implemented using the new Theme engine. There are several themes for Sugar 6. The default is the new UI. But there are several others include the existing UI.

As stated before it cannot be purchased separately. But still with some Ajax Skills those enhancements are not a big myth. It will only be a question of time I assume until someone comes uo with the same themes. While I really like the 6.0 design and features I also firmly believe that there is potential to evene make it better.
