Update Accounts/Leads via Import failing

Exported lists of accounts and leads without email addresses to excel to be sent to sales reps. Updated email addresses now need to be imported into existing records without creating duplicates. Using the built-in Import tool, I received these results:

Account Import procedures tried so far:
- Create and Update Import, without Duplicate Index | Outcome was success to add email but duplicate accounts created
- Create and Update Import, with “Name” in Duplicate Index | Outcome was failure as all accounts were duplicates and no updating occurred

My Sugar knowledge is pretty basic and might be missing a simple solution, regardless you assistance is greatly appreciated as I'd like to update my targets lists for ongoing email campaigns.

Did you find a solution? I also want to re-import the existing data that is present in Sugar, with only updated email addresses. I do not want duplicate leads to be created but only email addresses to get updated in their respective columns. How can I do that? Please help..

You should export with the IDs and re-import with the IDs for the most success. This gives you a surefire way to find the original record to update.
