I know that there are a million posts on this subject, but I can't seem to sort out all of the incremental upgrades and arcane processes. I am currently running 3.0c and want to get to 4.0.whatever as directly as possible. I keep seeing posts that indicate that you have to go through lots of minor upgrades to get there, but the official instructions (Upgrade_Steps-to-Sugar_Open_Source_v351.pdf) suggest that you can get all the way from 3.0.x to 3.5.1 with a single process.
I have tried to follow the steps meticulously, but when I get to the point where I run the upgrade wizard, it gives me two error messages:
- It wants all files in the installation that is being upgraded to be writable. Well, they are; I have checked it and chmod-ed the whole tree, but it keeps giving the error.
- It says the 3.5.1 directory does not exist, but it does exist. I have checked and rechecked my typing and it is correct.
So I can't get beyond that point, and I am stuck. Has anyone put together a more detailed cookbook than the official upgrade guide, or can anyone tell me what detail I have overlooked that would consistently give these two errors?
Thanks
Justin Harlow
