HI everyone:
In my CRM, a simple user can modify data from other users. Is there a chance to give rights to most of the users to only modify their own data?
Thanks

Hello!
I'm new to SugarCRM and so my expierience is very small. But as far as I unterstand you can configure user rights in the "Role Management" Section in the Administration Area. There you can create "Roles" and you can define rights for each Role. If you want own rules for each user you can define one rule per user as far as I know.
But I'm interested if there are any improvements in Professional and Enterprise Versions regarding user rights.

In the Pro Version I know only one role may be used with a user. Roles may be overridden on the user level if they need special permissions not normally provided by the assigned role. The other option is to define a role you can always create as many roles as you want.Originally Posted by infu

Hello!
But as far as I understand this role system it's just possible to define values like "All / Owener / None" for Add/Delete/View/... for each module, isn't it?
I'd like to see something like "All members of role1 may access objects owned by users in role1", not just objects owned by this special member. I think in many situations there is a group of people and they want to share their information but don't want other groups to have access to their information. Something like this isn't possible, isn't it?

I'm not able to change the users rights into the version 3.5.1
Anyway... I saw that I can do it in the version 4, changing the values to "owner" in each cell... but
Is there a chance to import the roles module (of the version 4) without upgrading?
Thanks
In the Pro Version there is also Teams which do what you are asking. If they are not a memeber of Team A, Team B will not be able to see it. There are also "private" Teams. But remember when you configure the user in reports too the person they report to also sees everything that person can see plus other teams they may belong. You can assign more than 1 Team to a user to give them access to that teams data as well.Originally Posted by infu
Hope this helps you understand the Pro Security model a little better.
