This seems to be an input field, where you can enter the number of page impressions from a webanalysis tool or the number of responses or something else to calculate in the ROI Detail View the costs per impression. Nothing else.
In SalesForce.com this field is named "number of resposes".

Impressions is a general marketing term for the number of responses to a campaign. In an email marketing campaign, it would be the number of recipients to the email. In a banner ad campaign, it would be the number of views of the banner. In a direct marketing campaign, it would be the number of mailers sent out.

This field is for tracking the planned number of impressions for your particular campaign.

This was a timely question as I was doing some training with my US marketing team the other day and was asked the same quesion!!

Clint: None of my professional marketing collegeauges have ever uesed, or heard of, the term impressions to mean responses to a campaign.

In fact I work in a business where impressions has a very specific mean (that is the number of sides of paper that are printed upon).

I would ask if this phrase could be amended to something a little more mainstream (expected responses, for example), and also that the user guide be updated to explain what this field is used for, as it's not in there at present.

    Many thanks

    Rick

Not saying that our use of the term is 100% correct for all uses of a marketing campaign in Sugar, but I thought you might find this interesting.

Part of the beauty of Sugar Studio is that you can change the label for this field or even remove it if you want.

    From
    advertising terminology on the Internet:

    Impression
: According to the "Basic Advertising Measures," from FAST, an ad industry group, an impression is "The count of a delivered basic advertising unit from an ad distribution point." Impressions are how most Web advertising is sold and the cost is quoted in terms of the cost per thousand impressions (CPM).

    From marketingterms.com:
    impression

    Definition

A single instance of an online advertisement being displayed.*

    Information

    * This definition may be an over-simplification, as there is no standard way to count impressions. All of the differences can add up to very large discrepancies, yet people make purchases based on impression every day.

    So... what is the definition?

Currently, whatever a buyer and seller agree on.

Yeah, I'll add it onto the list of other field changes!!!

Updating the manual is a more challenging prospect.

I see you are in Dublin, I'll have to stick my head around the door next time I am in town (usually a few times a year).
