When converting a lead into a contact -can a record connected to that Lead be moved?

I have created a simple module which provides additional information to certain Contacts.
However the module is also relevant to certain Leads.

When the Lead is converted into a Contact, can the record from my associated new module be removed from the Lead and reconnected/recreated to the Contact if that particular Lead had such a connected record?

Once the lead is converted - I do not need to retain the connected new modules record to that converted Lead s long as the record is connected/recreated against the newly created Contact.

At the moment, I am having to delete the new modules record from the Lead and re-enter it into the new Contact.. (painful)...

Sugar doesn't provide that facility till now. But you can do this by creating a logic hook.

It requires some php and sugar development skills.
Are you able for that?
You need to create a logic_hook before_save on Contacts, check if the action is ConvertLead and then update the associated new module.
