Where does sugar keep my database?

Is it on my personal computer with MySQL?
Or is it on a server on the net?

Thus, if my computer crashes or get's stolen, will my info be safe on the web?

No data will store in local. (unless offline client)

It depends on where you install sugar and the database.

It doesn't matter where on the web, as long as it is not just on my local computer.

That is what im trying to achieve, to make sure that doesn't matter what happens to my computer, all my contacts are safe.

Is that the case?

As gunnin indicated above, it is going to be dependent on how you installed Sugar. Without you sharing additional details of how you installed, it is hard to give you a more specific answer.

The only other tidbit I would throw in is that if you look at your config.php file, you would see the settings that correspond with your database which in turn would tell you where the data is being stored.
