I'm wondering if SugarCRM CE is stored on your computers local hard drive, or on SugarCRM's servers?
I would feel more safe uploading client information knowing it's stored on my computer and not on a server off in the cloud.
Anybody know?

It depends on you choose to deploy it.
You can install it on your own machine and have everything on your hardware, or you can have it hosted and have the data stored on someone else's server. The choice is yours.

Thanks, but I'm still a little confused.
So if I just follow the simple steps to download and install for Apple users, then it should end up on my hard drive, with all database stored on my Mac? Or do I need to do something fancy to make sure of this?
I guess I'm confused when you say "someone elses". Does this mean SugarCRM's servers?
Thank You.
That depends. If not mistaken, Mac OS X already has all the necessary components preinstalled (Apache, MySQL, PHP), in which case you would only need to download the Sugar program files and walk through its web based install routine described in the install guide.
If, however, you need help installing Apache, MySQL, etc., you either need to do that through whatever normal Mac routines would get you to that point or use the stack installer to install them plus Sugar, in one shot. Can't tell you how to go about it as I am a Windows person.
Anyway, the point is that either of those approaches would lead to an install where everything is on your computer.
As for the "someone else," it could be Sugar (if you using Professional or Enterprise) or a third party hosting provider.

If it's CE (Community Edition), it will not be installed in SugarCRM's hosted service. It would be on your local computer or server, unless you are working with a 3rd-party hosting service.

Great, that makes sense now. Yeah, the Apple install provided seems to be quit easy as I've tried it once before. I just thought I better double check on the storage of the free edition.
Thanks again.
nice thread! thanks both of you!
