Default Who do you use to host your Sugar CE?

I am used to running my own servers and hosting complete dedicated servers at places like Rackspace. A friend is interested in running with Sugar CE, but doesn't have the ability for a dedicated service.

Please share where you host if you host with someone like hostgator (he wants to use godaddy linux hosting, but I don't think that's an option) on a shared server in a shared environment.

    Thanks in advance!

    You could try:

    http://www.siteground.com/sugarcrm-hosting.htm

Alternatively, you could just host it on a machine in your office. You can use one of the Fast Stack installers to set it up:

    https://www.sugarcrm.com/crm/downloa...tml#installers

We also offer Sugar hosting with training and support. Contact us at info@lampadaglobal.com for more information.

    Best regards,

I use Hostgator for my personal copy and am quite happy with it. A client I've worked with before actually made me aware of it and tried it after hearing he had a positive experience.

Godaddy is ok if you have a very small site and don't really care about uptime or speed.

I have a few sites hosted there and they take fooorevvverrrrr to load. Every one of them. Always.

I also have monitoring setup on one of them and I get alerts, on average, that the site is down 2-3 times a week. One time it went down nearly a dozen times in the span of 3 days.

I'd recommend looking else where for decent hosting, I do still use Godaddy for Domain registrations though...and I do love Danica Patrick.

A number of folks have reported that some GoDaddy accounts do not allow the use of some PHP libraries which SugarCRM relies upon, like IMAP.

Actually, GoDaddy allows almost everything (except IMAP c-libraries). Most of the issues are due to the SugarCRM email functionality that is broken. I can send emails through joomla via BOTH SMTP and sendmail (and PHPMailer), but not from SugarCRM. Can the developers just look at some Joomla code and replicate it, so this wonderful software can get WORKING email functionality? Please???

The email functionality does work, so long as you install it within a properly configured environment.

I have to disagree about the email comment. You can make email work in most cases, but it is always a near futile exercise. I have been struggling with Siteground to make email work for several weeks now and it just will not. Cannot send through SMTP or receive emails using IMAP. Have not tried POP3 yet. I am using Fusemail.net as my primary email host. Should note that I have no problems when setting up localized email for each user in most cases, but the system email is a pain, plain and simple.

I don't disagree that the configuration can be troublesome and/or frustrating, but that doesn't equate to "it doesn't work," hence my earlier comment.

I host on Siteground which I like for everything but Sugar since I cannot automatically upgrade it. I either have to have a separate copy on a local machine (and I can never get the darn thing to work) or I have to pay them $50 for each upgrade.

I would love some hosting service where I can upgrade at will.
